Meeting Jude Law; what was it like?
66So, what is it like to meet film star and heart-throb Jude Law? Well, to be honest he’s a thoroughly nice bloke actually. My Fiancée and I were lucky enough to meet him last month at a charity do. I won’t divulge the details as it was a private party and we are close to the patrons, but I thought that people might want to know what it’s like to meet a famous person like Jude, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. For years I was unsure of people like him, it’s bad enough that every girl you know prattles on about him, then you never know what to believe in the press. He dumped Sienna Miller for goodness sake! Is he sane? But the thing about meeting famous people is that, well, they’re just people who have become famous because of their abilities but also because their chosen profession happens to be part of a huge media machine. On this occasion he was using his fame to raise money for a very worthy cause, and putting a lot of energy into it. Part of the evening involved an auction of treasures that ‘money can’t buy’ ... you know the sort of thing, shopping trips with famous beautiful actresses or exclusive trips to exclusive resorts. Huge amounts of money went on the sale, thanks to, among others, the efforts of Jude Law who roused the crowd with a few gags and a youthful air. Sadly, I’m not blessed with finances sufficient to partake in the sale, but, unaware of this, Jude tried to charm me and my party nonetheless with his charm and fervour for good cause.
Wearing his moustache and sideburns he was, I assume, in the middle of filming the sequel to ‘Sherlock Holmes’ in which he plays Dr Watson. This is my favourite film of his, not because I’m a Holmes fan and a fan of Robert Downey Jr, but because this is the first time I’ve seen him play second fiddle to the lead. He plays the role of the good doctor with skilful charm and modesty giving us a chance to see what a wonderful actor he actually is behind those twinkling Hollywood eyes.
I didn’t feel star struck, nor embarrassed, or shy ... watching the man in action I think I felt relieved that ordinary people can reach such heights and retain their simplicity despite it all. And, although we only exchanged a few words and were lucky enough to get a photograph featuring my beautiful fiancée shaking with fear and excitement, it was nice to know that a man like that is as normal as you and I. Good luck to you Jude, you’ve restored a lot of my faith in humanity and that the fog of fortune is not so poisonous as the papers would have us think.

Thanks for sharing your story, Tom. What you say doesn't surprise me. I saw him perform Hamlet for 3 hours, then came out to meet the fans and sign autographs for 20 minutes. I am told he did this every performance, a generous gentleman through and through. He has my respect, I'll tell you that.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing :)
